About N. P. L. T

In spite of the Literacy Hour and the Literacy Programme, many children who are apparently diagnosed Dyslexic, Dyspraxic or ADHD etc. are still not reaching their full potential. Spelling is still poor, and their ability in written communication is severely restricted.

Classes are large, and the curriculum tends to be prescriptive, which leaves little time for teachers to be as creative as they would like to be.
It has been known for some time that children learn in a variety of ways, but with a large class it is not always possible to find the best input for each individual child.

Teaching on a one to one basis often improves a student’s ability.
I teach students “How to learn”, to be able to work “smart", not necessarily hard..

I do set a small amount of home work, and in most cases it does not cut too much into a student’s free time.  My method tends to remove the ” reluctance”  to learning, that students tend to subconsciously built up in themselves, and this stifles their interest, willingness and creativity.

Learning should be a pleasure, and not a chore. In today’s pressures of so many tests and league tables, many students, (even very willing and gifted ones), can get disenchanted with the pressures thrust upon them.
